And you'll do your life's best work.(sm) The Associate Director of Market Research & Competitive Intelligence, a seasoned business strategist and advisor, delivers intelligence, analysis, insights and recommendations focused on the Provider Market, revenue cycle management services and related solutions. The Associate Director will conduct primary and secondary research initiatives transforming data into purposeful insights which drive growth, market differentiation and operational excellence. Primary Responsibilities: Gather market insights and competitive intelligence, complete analysis and develop implications and recommendations, and support the organization as a subject matter expert to empower key strategic and tactical decisions Manage research initiatives by implementing the entire research process: defining the research scope and budget, selecting the appropriate research methodologies, managing research vendor relations, interpreting and analyzing data and information, as well as synthesizing disparate data, developing reports, communicating and presenting research findings and implications to members of the organization This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports; approximately 80% of the work will be completed in - house by the selected candidate with the remaining 20% completed by managing external vendors; in this role, large quantitative primary research studies are infrequently used Conduct and analyze market and product research and competitive intelligence on the Provider Market (i.e., physician organizations, health systems and hospitals), revenue cycle management services and related solutions using standard frameworks (e.g.
Porter's Five Forces, SWOT, Market Maps) to create actionable research findings Monitor and analyze industry developments and announcements utilizing a wide variety of research sources and databases to create internal alerts and produce dashboards to provide insights and develop strategic implications for stakeholders throughout Optum Support other strategy development, business planning and executive management activities Assist in the development and maintenance of the market research plan assuring delivery of research on time and within budget and recommend changes in the organization to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives; provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing research problems and opportunities Manage and implement internal systems, templates, and tools to maximize the efficient delivery of market intelligence The position will receive guidance from the Senior Director of Market Research and Competitive Intelligence Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree 8+ years of experience in market research and competitive intelligence or 5+ years of experience at a leading strategy consulting firm Experience in the healthcare space Demonstrable experience with primary and secondary research methodologies Experience with standard frameworks (e.g.
Porter's Five Forces, SWOT, Market Maps) to create actionable research findings Demonstrable experience conducting analysis that includes drawing conclusions, identifying implications, providing actionable insights and recommendations Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and market research tools Experienced and comfortable with presenting in person and via WebEx to large groups at all levels of the organization Ability to build partnerships and trust with individuals at all levels of the organization Be a self - starter and able to work independently; work with a sense of urgency and be comfortable with ambiguity and constant change; approach work in an enthusiastic, positive, and collaborative manner Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize deliverables Proven organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in business management, marketing, economics or finance A MBA, advanced degree in library or information science, or advance degree in healthcare administration Experience at a top healthcare organization or professional consulting services firm Careers with Optum.
